	Greetings from Ireland. Some of you may know me from RD.net Can you help me identify this system Anyone know what system this is not sure if its connected to LIDAR or not. We got 8 of these speed vans today I presume the box with the redlens is just a camera as they boast that they can use these vans in the dark and adverse weather conditions. Your input is appreciated. Anyone any info on it I've attached some screenshots of the news article.

	doesn't look familiair to me but that not necessarily say anything I put on the news myself to be sure. I hope it loops, because I tuned in, in the middle of the stream

	Cheers: If its the RTE news yes it loops!!! It mentioned about this system working at night and in bad weather maybe its still using the LTI and upgraded camera. Hope my LPP works on this can you add [IMG] tags to the images on my first post

	I would call it box(y) At least I have the same stock ratings now. Still didn't see it but I guess its a multaradar c .. The camera is not interesting, could be housed in almost anything. However, the display right next to the officer looks (very much) like a control unit of a Multaradar C (for example)

	It does a bit!! Any idea on how a V1 fairs out against the Multanova What band do them Multanovas use and what mounting is advised vertical or horizontal Could it be something else? 	Highly unlikely that it is something else because it looks quite identical We have a V1 under test right now, the MRC is used around here quite frequently ... Its somewhat harder to detect (especially for unmodified Bel975's) but the V1 seems to do a better job. No result data yet however. (Test is done by Raymond on this forum) Actual discussion about a filter for it; http://www.flitsservice.nl/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=46117 (radardetectors are illegal here and the police has Spectre II's to detect them)

	Hmm same excuses.. Reducing death toll blabla... At least they use recognizeable vans ... They use those here too, but are specialists in hiding those things I've watched it now, but you already took the best shots. MRC it will be .. * edit: Its horizontally polarised radar (K band). But low powered, so harder to detect.

	Cheers dave i've my V1 mounted high this will increase radar range i'm told? Plus there illegal here so i need it up high. How far away do they nab you/. What distance do they take your picture / speed at?

	High? Hhmm I'm not convinced that location matters in that aspect... More like whats in front of it. Heat reflective glass is known to decrease radar detection quite dramatically and some grilles also (word goes that it could contain ferrite)... Flat piece of bumper is the best location to hide it. Metallic paint or not doesnt matter (luckily). .. But... You will lose reception from the back, if you put it under the hood. However most cars have heat reflective glass, you can only have good reception when there is a special spot unprotected.

	no heat reflective glass and good range on fixed GATSO cameras where its positioned. I presume as there a low power radar that you literally get snapped when you on top of the van !! What distance do these acquire speed and picture.

	No heat reflective glass? Hmm nice... Consider it as a luxury Ehrm I get 100-150m on a MRC .. Pretty bad... But I use an unmodified Beltronics 975R. Filtered Beltronics 975R's tend to detect around 350m (yards = x1.1). Vertical or horizontal doesnt matter (!) When you approach the radarunit from the back that is (least ideal situation, but its the default positioning here ) Should be enough. But as I said, no V1 results yet. 	10-15m (11 - 16.5 yards), something like that... If you spot a van, ask if you can take a look inside... We do that all the time here. Know your enemy

	Well, just to follow up on this topic, this was on the news here over the weekend... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x-LNgo0EyIQ Looks like we will be having an extra 45 of these Robot Multanova radar vans on our roads here by the middle of next year . If I get any videos on my on board camera system, I will post them here.

	No joking . The economy is in bits here and they still are going to fork over 16 million euros a year on these things. There must be some money to be made but then again, we already knew that eh? .

	Hmmm, and I thought moving to Ireland had an added bonus in the way of not having the same idiot amount of speedchecks while you're on the road. Hope they will keep it to the really dangerous stretches of road (blackspots and so on) and not use them on the motorways. At least they can retain the story of traffic safety in that way.
