Hi there.

I just moved in The Netherlands and I was wondering if there is any website where I can download and keep up to date the POI file for TomTom 6 for speed camera in Den Haag and the rest of the country.

Thank you!

And of course you can find the mobile speed traps here, including software to download it while on your way: www.flitsservice.nl -> Mobiele diensten -> FlitsNav

pASCII, thank you!

I don't want to be nagging too much, but can you write a couple of line more about what to choose after "POI downloaden"?

I don't know which option to choose!

You'll need to register (registreren) and afterwards log in.
Then you need a program called poiedit to download the poi's to your device. I hope you've used poiedit before since it's a bit of a pain to explain

Hi MarkyMark, thank you!

I tried to download all the files from the FlitsNav page but I cannot find any ov2 file (the overlay format needed by TomTom).

What am I doing wrong?

hmmm, you don't even need poiedit, just register, log in and go to:

GPS Bestanden : TomTom navigator / TomTomGO ( ov2 formaat. )
Download menu TomTom ov2 file download menu

Then select

Bestandsnaam Beschrijving Laatste update Aantal
Alle flitspalen Alle flitspalen in 1 bestand 12-08-2007 2652

and you'll get a .ov2 file.

Could you please tell me what to click after "POI downloaden" to download the file for POIedit? I already managed to register!

Thanks a lot!!!! :dag:

Ok... I'm sure I start to look very stupid now... :schudnee:

But if I try the three options under POI downloaden I can reach three webpages:

- GPS gebruikersvoorwaarden
- Ondersteunde GPS systemen
- Vaak gestelde vragen

NEVER MIND! I found it!

Maybe for someone else that doesn't speak Dutch:

From POI downloaden menu select Flitspalen downloaden, then click the blue button that says "Ik ga...." and then follow the instruction few posts above...

Thanks a lot Sandeman!

I will try right now while I drive back home!

cheers,

alfonso

That's what this site is -well originally- about.
There is a whole network of people who call or text us with the exact location of the radar. It is then processed and published here on the site (meldingen) and on a lot of radio stations.

With flitsnav, you can even have your gps device download the latest mobile radars as POI's 8)

So if you see them, you can contribute by calling or texting us :kniktja: :thumb:

We need the roadnumber (eg. A4), which section it is and the direction (eg. Den Haag - Rotterdam) and the hectometerpaaltje. Sorry, don't know the english word, they are the little green posts next to the highway at every 100 meters. It gives us the exact location of the radar.

That's all :D

Lol, I just edited my message with the info we need ;)

Example textmessage:

"radar NH a2 amsterdam ri utrecht thv hmp 58.3"
or
"laser NH ring a10 thv s107"

NH is for Noord Holland, I think you'll need ZH more for Zuid Holland. I'm not sure if that's still needed, but better safe than sorry :D

thv is short for Ter Hoogte Van (Where it's located)
hmp is short for hectometerpaaltje (the little green post)

text to: +31 6 21201552

The number to leave a voicemail is +31 321 33 81 33

Or if you have a WAP/3G enabled phone you can also check where you have to beware of the dogs near the road. Simply go with the browser on the phone to:

(menu)
(all notified radar traps)
(only highway traps)
(per province)

Together with the RDS notifications on the radio of Business News Radio (www.bnr.nl) or Q-music (www.q-music.nl) it guarentees a relatively comfortable feeling of security against the state terrorists.

I post a similar request on the forum of www.flitspaal.nl and they actually told me that www.flitspaal.nl is for fixed cams, but this website is the right one for mobile cams.

Looking through this thread, I saw MarkyMark was pointing me to FlitsNav, but I checked that page and I couldn't find any ov2 file to download.

So could someone please explain me how to go that info from FlitsNav to my TomTom?

By the way: I tried the info from flitspaal.nl on the way back from my office and it really spotted several cams. GREAT! ;-)

Flitsnav (FN) is a little program for a smartphone or pda that get the ov2-files from this site using wap/gprs/umts.

FN will still overwrite it's own file time to time so you wil stay up2date
with the mobile radars

Hi all.

I tried to translate FlitsNav page using BabelFish and it seems to me it automatically delivers the OV2 files for TomTom but only for devices based on Windows Mobile. Is this correct?

If so, is there any software for Windows (I mean, my regular PC) that allow me to download the updated ov2 file, or any web page where it is stored? It is not so fancy as automatically download, but it would be better than nothing to download it manually... ;-)

Thank you! :dag:

you can get the poi's on you pc using poiedit (is easier then with FN)
but our poi-database is changing everytime a radar comes or goes.
So you will never be up2date.

you always can try FN on your N80 (perhaps you're lucky)
(or get a better phone O:) O:) :x )

And if you've got any questions, I'm the main developer ( yeah I suck at making nice graphical layouts ) of www.flitspaal.nl :) I can always help you.

A multilanguage website is on the way. But its costing me a considerable amount of time to completely translate the website.
